About this event

Split I Second Exhibit at MIT Museum

NAWCC Chapter 8 and the Massachusetts Watchmakers-Clockmakers hope you can attend a special exhibit of Split ? Second led by Museum curator Florencia Pierri at the MIT Museum, 314 Main Street, Cambridge on Sunday, November 8 from 10 am to noon.  In addition to the guided tour of the exhibit, attendees will have the bonus opportunity for hands-on viewing of horological items from the Museum’s collection in storage. For more detailed information about the exhibit, be sure to read the attached article by Bob Frishman entitled Horology at the MIT Museum and visit the exhibit’s website at https://mitmuseum.mit.edu/exhibitions/split-i-second

Because of the small private room where attendees will be able to view and handle objects from storage, capacity for this special event is limited to 20 people, so sign up quickly to reserve your space.  The $20 registration fee for this unique event will be donated to the Museum.  So don’t delay registering here.

Museum passes will enable you to attend the special program and also tour the entire museum after the program.

Plans are also in the works for an optional Dutch-Treat opportunity to have lunch and conversation at a local eatery.

Street parking is free on Sunday and may be the best possibility in that area although there are parking lots in the area.

The Hayward Garage has entrances located at the corner of 33 Amherst Street and Hayward Street, about a block away from the Museum, as well as 55 Wadsworth Street. There are two surface-level exits within line of sight of the Museum entrance. Rates vary depending on time of day. If you have questions about parking at the Hayward Garage or want to prepay for your guests, you can contact the garage at 617-500-6553.

Another alternative is to park at the Alewife Brook MBTA Station and take the T from Alewife to Kendall/MIT.
